Our mission at MindSpa is to empower people to take control of their health in order to live life to the fullest. To accomplish this mission, we have assembled a team of talented practitioners who share this vision and have the collective expertise to offer professional care and support. With an integrative approach we achieve positive results!
I created MindSpa in 2004 with an idea inspired by my years of experience with a brain-based approach to treatment. I learned that there are many windows through which we can view the human condition. I learned the importance of treating the brain, heart, and gut to produce mind, body, and spirit wellness. I envisioned creating a place where people can receive expert clinical service and also enjoy spa-like options to maintain wellness. I knew that to make this happen I would need to attract talented and competent practitioners who share these beliefs and who could work together as an integrative whole. I knew it would be important to provide a safe healing environment. And I knew it would be important to stay at the forefront of health related technology, while respecting time-honored practices. The Consortium of Academic Health Centers for Integrative Medicine defines it as the practice of medicine that reaffirms the importance of the relationship between practitioner and patient, focuses on the whole person, is informed by evidence, and makes use of all appropriate therapeutic approaches, healthcare professionals, and disciplines to achieve optimal health. MindSpa embraces the principles of integrative medicine.
What is Mental Fitness?
Mental fitness means having a positive sense of how we feel, think, and act, which enriches our lives. It’s expressed as being mentally alert with greater clarity, emotional balance, and a sense of well-being. It’s a major component of healthy aging and human performance. MindSpa enhances mental fitness through interactive computer programs and other tools and methods that support cognitive development and effectiveness.
What is Mindfulness?
A mental state achieved by focusing our awareness on the present moment; includes our prevailing thoughts, feelings, body sensations, and environment. Practicing mindfulness means being in the present moment rather than the past or future. Thousands of studies have documented the physical and emotional benefits of mindfulness. Popular techniques include meditation, yoga, conscious breathing, being outdoors, and the use of biofeedback.
